Publisher's summary

Ride along on this endearing road-trip rom-com from Audie Award nominee Cara Bastone - scripted exclusively for audio!

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

My nerves almost get the best of me, but then there he is, sitting down in the seat next to me. Tall. Friendly smile. Bright indigo streak in his brown hair. The perfect distraction. Turns out he’s on his way to reconnect with an old flame. The one who got away. We can both make it on time - just barely - if the traffic keeps flowing.

Playing road-trip games, avoiding calls from his mother, and effortless conversation keeps us from clockwatching...until the bus breaks down. And my seatmate turns into my copilot as we wrangle a ride in a car three decades old. And hit all the traffic. And oh, Lord, the detours. And somehow I end up careening cross-town on the handlebars of a Citi Bike carrying a box of kittens. (Yeah, don’t ask.)

He’s my hero every step of the way...and I might be falling for him. But what happens when we reach our final destination? Could my seatmate really be my soul mate?

Featuring

Dear Listener,

What was my favorite part about writing Seatmate?
"My favorite part about writing Seatmate was being able to create a private world between these two characters even though they’re in public the whole time. Flirtation, attraction, and spark can create an invite-only bubble around the people who are feeling it for each other, and I had so much fun blowing that bubble for Gwen and Sam. Another advantage to writing a story that takes place completely in public? Side characters! There’s nothing more fun than inserting a Nosy Nancy to ask the questions your main characters aren’t ready to ask themselves. This story held so many surprises for me, mostly because the real world holds so many surprises for me. I, like Gwen and Sam, was just along for the ride!" – Cara Bastone, writer of Seatmate

Fun Novella!

This was another wonderfully sweet and cute novella from Cara Bastone. The forced proximity set up was very unique (a Megabus!) and Sam was such a cinnamon roll. This audio production was so fun and I ended up just listening to it instead of hybrid reading (ebook & audiobook). Zachary Webber and Amanda Ronconi were phenomenal! The full cast narration and sound effects made me feel like I was almost watching a movie. The novella itself was very funny and sweet with lots of over the top shenanigans and moments. Pretty much anything and everything happens to Sam and Gwen and this road trip romance was a quick and entertaining listen!

Overall very good!!

I was fairly impressed with this story. I don’t always like all the background noise and sound effects they do cause it can be a lot going on but this one wasn’t too over the top.

Most fun read!

Voice actors perfect! Fabulous story with lots of action, fun dialog, engaging characters. Wished it could go on for ten more hours. I think I’ll listen to it again right now. Now I understand how my grandparents were glued to radio theater. This is still way better.

Fun

Loved the narration, including the voices of the “extras,” plus, all the ambient sounds of travel.

What a ride!

Cara Bastone and the actors brilliantly presented us with a subtle, sweet, and captivating story. I really relished Bastone's writing theme throughout the audiobook because it made us, as the audience, feel like we were a part of Sam and Gwen's adventures. While listening, there were so many times that I forgot this was a fictional story. I initially sampled this book, and I was hooked right away. The actors did a great job conveying the emotions and character growth of the love interests. I believed their struggles and wanted them to succeed. It is also helpful that the story is told from both Gwen and Sam's perspectives, so we are able to get a closer look at their individual understanding of their situation. If you are looking for a story to get lost in, a rom com, or a quick audiobook, read "Seatmate: Love Lines, Book 3."

Cute and Fluffy

It was exactly what I needed. It has the basic writing formula for romantic comedy with a dose of young adult flare.
