Publisher's summary

A bad boy, a good girl, and ice cream collide in the best little wedding town in America!

Dahlia Mallard has finally found her destiny - running an ice cream shop in Bliss, the happiest bridal town in the Midwest. Problem is, her heart is bigger than her bank account, and she needs a serious influx of cash to get through the winter. Her last-ditch effort? Convincing country music superstar Billy Brenton to commit to attending her risqué flavor-tasting event to boost ticket sales. But the closest she can get to Billy is his drummer, the womanizing Mikey Diamond.

Mikey loves the ladies, and he makes no secret of it. But he's not such a fan of this town devoted to weddings, love, and marriage. And he's even less of a fan of people using him to get to Billy. When circumstances land Mikey in Dahlia's house, though, all his caution - and all his interest in any other single ladies - flies out the window. Dahlia is quirky and funny and, unlike his usual women, she doesn't tolerate any of his baloney. But when Mikey discovers that Dahlia, too, is using him to get close to Billy, will he take the chance to be her hero instead, or will he revert to his man-whore ways?

Short And Sweet!

This is the third book in the Misfit Brides Series. Dahlia and Mikey’s story is short and sweet. Dahlia is holding on to her business by a hair and is depending on her flavor tasting day to boost her sales. She hopes to get singing star Billy Brenton to attend in hopes of boosting her ticket sales for the event. Mikey is Billy’s friend and drummer in the band. He is also a ladies man and not interested in a serious relationship. Their story is fun, sweet and entertaining. Definitely worth a listen.

Decadent!

Would you consider the audio edition of Smittened to be better than the print version?

Yes! I love listening to an audiobook, especially if I have read the book in the recent past because I concentrate on every single word in a way that I don't when I read. I tend to skim while reading so listening to the story adds a new and very enjoyable experience.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was the hero of the book, Mikey. Every time Karen White portrayed Mikey's southern accent I got a tingling up and down my spine. Mikey is a shameless flirt at first glance but he's got a lot more going on under that devil-may-care attitude that I was very drawn to, just as Dahlia is.

What does Karen White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narration of Karen White is awesome! She's got Mikey's southern accent down pat and every time I heard her vocal version of his endearment, Sweetpea, it gave me goosebumps and made me laugh out loud. I think Karen's narration is the perfect accompaniment to Jamie Farrell's style of romantic comedy.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The regret in Mikey's voice as he's recalling the fire that destroyed the house he and Billy were staying in made me ache with compassion for both of them.

Any additional comments?

This audiobook combination of Jamie Farrell's writing and Karen White's narration is as decadent as the sexy flavors of Dahlia's ice cream.

Swoony and fun romance

I loved Mikey and Dahlia’s forced proximity, opposites attract novella. Mikey is a drummer for a country megastar, Will/Billy, who is also his best friend. Mikey is a womanizer but a good guy. Dahlia owns an ice cream shop in small town Bliss. When the house he and Will are renting burns down, Dahlia offers to let him stay at her house. She’s have financial difficultly after her boyfriend stole all her money and needs Billy to come to an event at her ice cream shop. To get to their HEA, Mikey and Dahlia have to deal with their pasts since they continue to negatively impact their lives. The story included sweet moments, steamy scenes, chuckles, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, and heart squeezing love all while giving you all the good feels. This story runs concurrently with Will and Lindsey story (Matched - book 2) but you do not have to read that story to enjoy this one. I am excited to read Kimmie’s book next.

Karen White did a fantastic job narrating the story and breathing life into the story and the characters with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.

Mikey & Dahlia

I had expected a little more from this story and was disappointed. You got most of the gist of this story with Matched in Lindsey and Wills story so it was like a repeat with little real substance add that some parts like the Bachelor games wasn't included, and Dahlia thanked him for a small gesture vs him making a grand gesture for being an asswipe with his declaration of love for another woman whether or not he realized it was the wrong kind, he needed to grovel and he didn't other than saying he kissed her to find out. it was all kinds of wrong. No concrete gestures of a real love or HEA a few months later. very disappointed, he said sweet pea to every woman he interacted with so it was more disrespectful than an endearment and he used it on Dahlia every chance he got i wanted to slap him.

Smitten, Indeed!

This was a cute and funny rom com with likeable characters. The humor wasn't forced or over the top. It enhanced the pull between the main characters. Overall, a sweet treat!

The narration was ok. I found the voice for Dahlia seemed elderly for the character. Otherwise, well done.

I'm Smitten

I always enjoy Jamie Farrell's humor and Karen White's narration. Even though this is a short book, I didn't feel like anything was missing or rushed.

Short and sweet, but not worth it

It was cheap and I enjoyed the first two books so much! It was an interesting story but I would never spend a credit on it, and honestly it’s not worth more than $5 - I was hoping there was something new or insight we didn’t get to see in the second book. But nope. All there is, is knowing who Dahlia is, and that she has lots of animals.

Short but Sweet

I liked this one. It was short but it was good. I had read the book but I liked the audible narrative better.

Smittened by Jamie Farrell

Would you listen to Smittened again? Why?

Probably not. Once I've read / listened to the rest of the series I will be moving on to the rest of my TBR list

What other book might you compare Smittened to and why?

Matched. Also by Jamie Farrell. Similar characters in each. The stories are told concurrently.

Have you listened to any of Karen White’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This performance was very similar to that of hers in Matched.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I nearly did. :)

Any additional comments?

SMITTENED is another cute story in Jamie Farrell's Misfit Brides series. This novella features Mikey Diamond, the drummer and best friend of Will Truitt from MATCHED, and a self-proclaimed man-whore who never expected to find the woman of his dreams is the town of Bliss. Falling in Love, anywhere, was not on his agenda.

Dahlia inherited The Milk Duct, an ice cream shop just off the aisle in Bliss from her Aunt Agnes and she loves running it and creating new ice cream flavors. She's a little ditzy, but has the kindest heart. She takes in strays, including Mikey after his house burns down from a space heater accident. She's sweet, but she speaks her mind and that fascinates Mikey. She captures his attention completely, even when he's supposed to be keeping an eye on Will.

Fun story. Interesting characters. Happy to see more of Mikey's story filled out after reading so much about him in Matched. 4 stars

LOVED It!

This is a great book; this is the third book in the Misfit Brides series written by Jamie Farrell and narrated by Karen White. This book has a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. This was such a great read and full of surprises.

The narrator Karen White did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to in one sitting and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.
