Publisher's summary

Book Two in the USA Today best-selling White Monarch trilogy. Complete series available now.

The devil has a name, and it’s Cristiano de la Rosa. On my wedding day, he was the last man I expected to see standing at the altar. But he plans to make me his queen — unless his brother can rescue his princess.

Getting Cristiano to lose control becomes the name of the game, and the stakes are life and death. But as truth and lies blur, loyalty is tested, and our chemistry threatens to reach the melting point, the prize grows less clear. Either freedom no longer means what I think it does, or Cristiano is as devious as everyone says, and he’s mastered the art of playing my mind.

All I know for certain is that nothing is certain. And all you need to know?

This is a love story. But even love stories have to end.

OMG YES!!!

This book gave us so many twists and turns between Natalia and Cristiano. You can see Natalia's feelings start to change towards the man she once thought a monster. The distrust of Diego becomes stronger in this story. Cristiano truly shows her that he is not what she thought he was. I am loving these two and I can't wait until book 3!!! I need it now!

The narrators are doing an amazing job bringing this story to life. Great job!

great story but..

I am loving the series so far. I have finished book 2 in less than 24 hours. however the main character Natalia, was effing annoying. there were so many times I kept talking to myself wishing I could just shut her up. while she does have some growth she is still annoying, stubborn, and spoiled. She is the perpetual victim, whoa is me type. it was hard to finish due to her parts but I made it. now on to the last book.

OH JESSICA.. IT’S WAY W-A-A-A-Y BEYOND 5 ⭐️

I’m just trying to calm myself down after the high of listening to this refreshingly unique, complex, layered, spectacularly twisted well-named story.. because the violent heart-stopping blow at the end had me desperately clinging on to its cliff ledge as the floor beneath my feet suddenly got brutally ripped away. Jessica, in this story you made them tumble, stumble, fall and fall. You slowly turned a sinner into a saint, you turned a naive twenty year old pawn princess into a much stronger more resourceful version of herself with deeper understanding of the ‘bigger picture’ and what’s been motivating Cristiano. You revealed, concealed and made my heart hunt for the right answers instead of assumptions. But you side-swiped me too and left me alone reeling in the middle of catastrophe screaming for more.

I know twenty yr old Natalia isn’t there yet and she’s a long way off declaring undying love, I know thirty-four yr old Cristiano is desperately still seeking the who, how and why’s of the murder he was wrongly blamed for.. and I know you’ve got a mountainous terrain of obstacles ahead for these two interesting characters to climb.. and I’m drooling with gleeful anticipation at what’s to come. However, you’ve already given so much more than I’d ever hoped for.. with their feisty angsty banter, their magnetic smouldering chemistry, Cristiano’s deliciously dirty mouth and possessiveness.. and even sexy scenes in their still unconsummated marriage. Thankfully lust, animal magnetism, care and the dawning of truth have produced new seedlings of trust, loyalty and understanding which have broken the barren waste-ground of their scorched relationship and has tentatively brought unity. However, with that OMG of an ending, who knows what layered delights you’ve got in store for these two next.

I bought this book, looked and longingly lingered over it for a while before actually starting its very addictive well-everythinged chapters because I reeeeally didn’t want to get to its cliffy end and was holding out for book 3. But, when its lure became too strong, I hit play and barely breathed in case I missed something.. rarely paused as the angsty emotional drama unfurled and intensified.. and squarely braced my heart for what lies ahead. Told mainly from Natalia’s PoV with a couple or three from Cristiano’s - and Emma Wilder’s fantastic inflective narration and believable male voice brought the story and its colorful characters to life and made it (imo) a simply outstanding listen.

Worth a credit? Absolutely yes.. it was nearly 11 blissful hours of highs, lows and in-betweens. 11 insightful hours where some of the missing pieces were located and learned. Character’s emotions and personalities were mapped and moulded. The lines of sexual tension hummed, grew in intensity and held firm. New horizons were glimpsed, gleaned and gazed into. Secret plans were highlighted, revealed and brought to the forefront. And then villainous darkness descended over everything when blood was shed in the violent end.

her thoughts interrupt the story.

you could skip chapters and not miss a thing. The story would have been better if we didnt have to hear her every thought. .Some times less is more and more is way too much.

Great Listen!! Worth the credits!

If you love Mafia Romance this book is fantastic!
Just as good as the first one in the series.
Great writing, and the performance is amazing!
Love that it’s not pure sex all of the time and the same tired story line. I couldn’t stop listening.
On to the third one!

Well, now.

What was supposed to be a "in between/waiting for a different book's release date" purchase is officially now on my top 5 list. And that's a hard-earned award. I won't go through the plot...no doubt other reviewers have thoroughly done so already. I can, however, speak to the story's sense of imbalance, which keeps you on the edge of your seat. The characters are well fleshed out and interesting. There are a few overused phrases (can't remember them atm), and a few eye roll moments. Nothing that will deter you from loving this series.

Random separate note: Brian Pallino IS Christian Fox, who co-reads. I'm so tired of trying to track down Christian Fox 's narration that I officially give up. He wins. He uses so many different names that I stopped jotting them down. If he doesn't want us to find him, I won't bother hunting anymore.

An addicting, thrilling ride!

I am addicted and absolutely obsessed with this series! Cristiano is the perfect anti-hero turned hero. I just love stories like this where the villian becomes the hero. There are so many surprises, twists & turns, and delicious angsty romance, I LOVE IT! Can't wait to see what happens next!

This audiobook is an aural treat! Narrator Emma Wilder is simply amazing in this series! Highly recommend!

Violent Ends

Talk about a slowwww burn! I really like this triology but book 2 was kind of slow for me. Of course it got really good towards the end and then we get hit with a cliffhanger! I did not like the Spanglish going on. I don't know Spanish so when stuff wasn't translated it aggravaged me.
Narration was awesome. Brian Pallino is a new narrator for me and definetly plan to listen to more books by him.
