Publisher's summary

A painting, a panic room, a thief, and her lover...whose job is to catch her.

There are three things you need to know about Anna. 1) She's a bounty hunter with adrenaline junkie habits, 2) She's the "awkward" twin, and 3) She's a thief - kind of.

Darius designs security systems for Cipher Security, and the strange and remarkable woman he met the night the painting was stolen is as intriguing a mystery as his hunt for the thief is.

But the lady has no filter, and she knows she can't lie to the man who looks like a Disney prince and kisses like fairytales are true, so she runs from the one person who may actually see her as the heroine of her own story.

Contains mature themes.

This is why I love April White!

I am always waiting for new books by April White. She is excellent at creating characters that have insecurities, yet grow into themselves and find ways to take joy and pride in their uniqueness, not to mention badassery. (And the fact that that word occasionally shows up in her books is amazing!) Her pop culture and historical references appeal to me and makes the nerd in me ever so happy. I always end up doing research after reading one of her books because she brings up things that just plain pique my interest and make me need to learn more. I love that she is one of the authors who has teamed up with Penny Reid, another favorite of mine, because I can completely see a world in which we would all be great friends.

This story didn't disappoint. I loved that Anna was a badass tomboy who didn't recognize just how awesome she was and was still a bit awkward in her own skin. That she became friends with Shane and Sparky from the last Cypher Security book seemed perfect and of course, what Knitting in the City fans wouldn't be happy with spot on cameos by Quinn and Dan. We first met Darius in the last Cypher Security book and I loved the fleshing out of his character, the perfect accent of the narrator, and the way he grows and comes through for Anna in the end. I can't wait for the next April White book, hopefully in the Cypher Security series, but also, I would love another book about Ringo from the Immortal Descendants series and Urchin of Means. April and Penny Reid make smart and nerdy heroes into the new sexy!

Great read!

Love having the extended stories of Penny Reid’s books! White did an admirable job of making me “chortle.”

I'm not mad at it.

Well, I liked the story, I liked the characters it just felt a little disjointed. Where to begin? The narrators were great at their characters but they definitely could have used a little more voice training when it came to voicing the other's role, this explains the 3 stars. (I rarely give less than 4... as a performer I get it.) The chahracter of Anna was all over the place. A quality that I truly loved. It just felt a little too flighty therefore making it a little too much. I too am one for boots and unhinged boughts of imagination, but this felt forced or didn't come across as smoothly as intended. This is fiction, so I'm not looking for facts but it could have been smoother. Overall, I enjoyed it. I'm not mad at it. It was a good listen.

Delightful and clever

Like the other knitting in the city books Code of Honor features unique characters, interesting settings and pretty realistic conflicts; yet this novel has something else. It features many fun aspects of language that I love. The title with its double meaning tickles me. Darius and his “fifty-cent-words” makes his character even more endearing. But the best thing is the whimsy and poetry in the way the two characters talk to each other.

That quirky friend of your has a story

Laughed out loud several times while reading. Definitely did not like Gabriel or Quinn’s voice but Darius’ voice was well done. A tad angst but for good reason. Worth a credit or a download just for the ending itself!

Funny and nerdy

As a 32-year-old who owns a dinosaur costume, I can deeply relate to the main character. I love how she found herself throughout the story. Only thing I didn't care for was the male narrator's voice when speaking the female lines. His interpretation made her sound extremely young.

Storyline was well written

Excellent weave of Boston history as well as Chicago ambience.
Overall fantastic flow. Performance slipped in a few places, where an established character’s fluidity changed course without reason.
