Publisher's summary

A sexy single-dad stand-alone romance coming soon from New York Times best-selling author Kendall Ryan.

Life threw me a curveball. An adorable eight-pound, four-ounce curveball with her mother’s eyes and my dark hair. I’d like to think my single-dad game is strong, but honestly? I’ve been struggling a little.

When a beautiful young woman moves in next door and offers to give me a hand, I jump at the chance to hire her as a nanny. Jessa is amazing with my daughter. She’s also patient, kind, and way too pretty.

The number one rule of hiring a nanny? Don’t bed the nanny.

It’s a rule I intend to keep.

But as the days pass, I begin to realize how much my life is missing. Companionship. Romance. Intimacy. When I discover my heart has space for one more female, it’s a lost cause, another curveball. The hot-as-hell nanny is leaving soon for a mission trip to Central America. No sense in letting myself fantasize about Jessa being a permanent part of my life.

The closer we get, the more difficult it becomes to keep my feelings in check, because my heart won’t listen. And neither will my libido.

Well, you know what they say. Rules are meant to be broken....

👍

Warning when the book ends you have about 30 minutes of the first book that starts playing. Why is went back to book one was a little odd but just wanted to make you aware. As for this book it was good, Vansssa’s voice took a while to get use to and when she was reading and it went to the male voice it was not good at all. I think that was my only downfall to it but overall a good read and a good addition to the series.

Easy feel good read...

The Stud Next Door is a great addition to the Frisky Business Series. It is a sweet story with very little angst and all the fun and good feels.

Sickly sweet, cliche, crass and bland

Sickly-sweet
Even Jacob Morgan’s sexy narration couldn’t save this juvenile treacle. Conner was a total player, right up until he became a dad. Now, with a 2 month old, every other thought in his head is about how much how awesome it is to be a dad, and how adorable she is, and she’s his world, his everything, his … blah blah blah. This complete 180 is also unbelievable given the insta-lust he has for Jessa the minute she shows up next door.

Speaking of Jessa, she’s supposedly trying to turn over a new leaf and stop living to please others, yet the very day she shows up, she takes the baby and before you can say goo-goo, she’s the nanny, cooking for him and cutting his hair. Oh, and insta-lusting over him. This is a romance I’d have dreamed up in high school, where the sexy dad with a perfectly behaved baby falls in love with the perfect little woman.

Cliche
This is a series of cliches glued together with endless gushing over the adorable infant and endless lusting over each other There’s only one hotel room and it only has one bed. They are liquored up to lower inhibitions to get to the first kiss. The first time they get down he thinks it was “mind blowing” and “life changing.” 🙄🙄🙄

Crass
The plot involved Connor running a sex toy store. This leads to contrived, juvenile skits about showing up to sex classes or testing out products. The number of F bombs is unnecessarily high. F 💣 to express anger, frustration, surprise, crack jokes, tease friends … it made this story feel very low class.

Dull
You’d think with the sex store schtick and the daddy-nanny forbidden romance that this would be funny and feisty. You’d be wrong. This was not the wild rollercoaster of sexy times I was looking for; instead this was a merry go round of two kids inner monologuing about how great the other’s pecs or butt look. What little conflict there is gets resolved oh-so conveniently by external factors. Such a shallow listen made for very unsexy times that did nothing for me.

If you want a better nanny romance, I suggest Last in Line by Amy Daws.
If sex store rom-com tickles your fancy, I suggest the Happy Cat collection by Lili Valente & Pippa Grant

Random annoyance: I might have received this book better with some truth in advertising. The cutesy comic cover is very misleading… the story merits an oily torso or neon Frisky Business sign to advertise the book contents. After hearing the end of book preview, I have since found there are other books in the series and they advertise the sex toy store thing.

🤔!

Only a little over an hour into this and soooo many scenarios.
1)For 2 months the baby is very advanced.
2)Jess’s is a complete passing through town stranger and his so-called friends and sister volunteer personal information about him like they’ve known her for months or weeks even.
3)Why was daddy of the year ok with the nanny bringing his daughter to a sex store regardless of how old it’s the way he’s been depicted as a father that contradicts the act.
Finally I’m really tired of the main characters making future plans and fantasizing about a happily ever after when one is supposed to be leaving town indefinitely. It’s a little too unrealistic especially when they have known each other for 24 HOURS!! Overall not happy I used a credit.

Love this series!

This was a great single dad finds love while admitting he can’t do it all alone story. Connor and Jessa are a fantastic couple who found love when they weren’t looking for it but were willing to listen to their feelings and act on them. The guys of Frisky Business are all so different but have found the women who fit them to a T. This story was sweet, steamy and just right in every way. Jacob Morgan and Vanessa Edwin were a great fit for these characters and did an amazing job bringing them to life and making me fall in love with this story. Anxiously awaiting the final couple (no spoilers here) in this great group of friends and family. If you live Kendall Ryan (as I do) you will love this book as well.

Got me out of a book funk ❤️

This got me out of book funk. What’s great about Ryan’s books is that her story’s are enticing with enough relationship plot to satisfy any romance listener without the need to commit for 8+ hours. I needed something light, funny and sexy and another Frisky Business book hit the spot. As always I love Jacob Morgan but if I have to be honest I’m just not sure I like Edwin’s voice.

Didn’t love it.

First, I love Jacob Morgan’s narration, always (thus the 4 stars). Vanessa Edwin is a fine narrator but her male voice is horrible and I personally never got over how bad it was. The story was typical, which I normally like, in a, daddy needs nanny kind of way, but I didn’t love or wasn’t able to connect with all the characters, so there was that. It’s also annoying when a writer has a 2 month old baby doing things that they’re not yet capable of doing.

Best ever story

Loved that the story was a total different one. Very much liked the voices of the two narrator’s of the story, perfect for each other. Happy with the way the story moved along and ended
