Publisher's summary

Two aching hearts. A meddling small town. A second chance.

It’s not a new story. Wife finds out husband’s been cheating on her, and she packs up her four kids and heads back to her hometown of Sunrise Bay, Alaska.

Yeah, not a fresh start, but thousands of miles away from my ex will do just fine.

I’m prepared for the cold weather, the early snowfalls, and dark days and nights. What I’m not prepared for is coming face-to-face with my ex’s cousin, and for the same feelings from 20 years ago to ignite like the flame never went out.

It doesn’t take long before people are whispering about the widowed Hank Greene and me. But we both have children to think of this time around. Then again, Hank knows what it’s like to be a single parent, and sometimes those damn dimples of his make it hard to remember why we can’t be together.

Note: This is a prequel to The Greene Family series and does not have to be listened to in order to enjoy the series.

A knew family to get to know and love

I was drawn into this story from the first chapter. Having read and loved the Bailey family from Piper Rayne I wasn't sure of I would be able to dive into a new family. Boy was I wrong.

What a great introduction to the Greene Family this was. The characters were easy to relate to ad I found myself totally invested.

I cannot wait to read more in the series and knowing that Dori and Ethel will be popping in just made my day. The performances by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell did justice to what I know will become another beloved series from Piper Rayne.

Loved it!

Finally! A romance between single parents of 9 children geared more toward mature readers like me. Hank and Marla grew up together, married other people and now find themselves in the same small Alaska town bogged down by too many responsibilities and longing for that certain spark that they lost along the way. Small town life and issues with their kids make life uncertain but they’re both up for the challenge. I listened to the audiobook version and I loved the narration performances of Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell who are two of my favorite storytellers.
