Summary
How perfect is too perfect?
Ross Ransome is at the top of his profession; one of the most successful, and certainly one of the richest, plastic surgeons in the business. Such a man would expect his wife to be perfect - and why not? After all, he has spent enough hours in surgery to get her that way. But when his wife falls ill she turns her back on conventional medicine, and her arid marriage, and seeks help from the world of alternative medicine and a charismatic therapist who promises not just medical salvation. For Ransome, this is the ultimate betrayal. It defies logic, and Ross Ransome is a profoundly logical man. Logically, he can see no reason why any man should have his wife when he can't. It's all completely rational....

Awful narration
I am a fan of Peter James, and have read 90% of his work. I really tried to detach the content of the novel from the narration. Katie has excellent diction & pronunciation, but her tone for the central character Faith, was so dreary and angst filled, never once lifting. The voice for Faith’s child was so irritating that I actively disliked him!
The story itself was interesting enough that I clung on to the end, but the mounting irritation it caused, I’m afraid did me no favours.

Very disappointing!
This really isn’t up to his normal standards. It just drones on and on and the readers voice is extremely irritating, in fact I couldn’t listen to it anymore so I didn’t finish it.

For Mills and Boom fans
I am a big Peter James fan but listening to this book was painful. The narrator whined her way through the whole story and completely distorted the characters and turned what could possibly have been a reasonable plot into a pathetic love story. Twice I had to check I had purchased a book by Peter James. I think this book would have been better read than listened to.

Good bones but too much sloppy stuff
The basis of the story was quite promising and I enjoyed it to start with. I don't agree with some of the criticisms of the narrator as it's hard for a woman with a fairly high voice to do so many men's voices and she did a good job considering that. However there was too much' romance' for my taste much of which was quite cliched.

Gripping
Great story. Listened in one sitting. A little slow to start but soon ramped up. Fealt all the emotions from the story.

Mills & Boon?
Probably not a fair comment, since romantic fiction is not my choice. Which is why this story from Peter James was such a let-down.
Not what I was expecting from the James' imagination, and certainly not a patch on the Roy Grace series, which are always intriguing, and never disappointing.

One of Peter James Best So Far
Another excellent listen Peter James' Las three novels have been brilliant listens. Absolute Proof, Dead At First Sight and now, Faith all come highly recommended. Katie Scarfes' performance is superb, I look forward to hearing her narrate again.
