Publisher's summary

The runaway New York Times and USA Today best-seller!

Virginity.

Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible - a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half a brain would ever believe.

And as if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theater professor.

She'd left him naked in her bed about eight hours earlier....

Loved it

I thought this book was perfect. New adult is a new genres of books and I think Cora Carmack nailed it. It wasn't too racy where I felt like it was an erotica book and the cursing wasn't out of control. I think a lot of new adult books tend to lean that way since it can't be done in young adult books. It was the perfect amount of funny, sexy and romantic. I wasn't rolling my eyes at the mushy love story that is something I'd see on Hallmark. I am 27 and reading about college students or people in their twenties is more relatable to me. It reminded me of all the early twenty fun I had not too long ago. Can't wait to listen to the whole series.

I also thought the narrator was great. Listening to a good book can be drag when the narrator just does not connect with the character. I felt like Phoebe was Bliss.

LOVED IT!

This book was amazing. The narration was incredible except the last chapter. The guy's voice was hot but he read it too fast. I will definitely be listening to this book again!

Not what I thought

It was an OK book, but not what I thought at all. A lot slower than I had expected, and much more innocent than I had imagined. I felt like I was reading about a High School girl, really just staying a high school school.

I liked this book.

I listened to it years ago, but this is a cute YA (IMO) novel with full characters and good plot.

Not my thing - what is New Adult?

First let’s talk about this “New Adult” thing – basically it’s marketed toward an in between Young Adult and Adult age group. College age and sometimes post-college age. So, the reader are suppose to get main characters that are a little bit more mature in their decisions and life choices. Except, from reading this book I didn’t get the impression that Bliss Edwards was anything other than a 16 year old encased in a 21 year old’s body. It’s not her naivety so much as her immaturity and total sheltered life that have me asking how anyone thought this was a realistic 21 year old? I mean, seriously.

I had a lot of issues with this book – mainly that the reader was suppose to be okay with this whole professor/student thing. If he were a grad student acting as a Teaching Assistant to her class, well that I can go with. In my mind Garrick was probably 27-28? Like, what a perv. Plus he’s her teacher – favoritism, anyone? Totally un-ethical.

I guess I picked up this book with something totally different in mind and that’s why I just wasn’t happy with it. That being said, I listened to this one rather quickly and only now looking back on it do I realize that I didn’t enjoy it as much as I though I was while I was listening to it. (Do you ever have books like that? – you think “Wow! I really like this!” while reading it and then you finish and think it over and it’s like BAM – I did *not* like this book as much as I thought I did.)

Anyway, another audiobook, another good voice actor, but unfortunately this book just wasn’t my cup of tea. The most likable character gets a book of their own in the next installment of the series but I just don’t like the world enough to pick it up.

Losing It

Ok, I loved this story. It was so cute and awkward. I also loved the narrator for Bliss. I felt cheated with the epilogue. The narrator for Garrick was not what I pictured and it kind of ruined my life from the book. I figured he would have a deeper, sexier voice and was let down. Story was good/plot was good. An easy read/listen!
