Publisher's summary

When TJ, a small time Internet show host with his head in the clouds, met a strange green-haired girl in his secluded mountain town, he thought his luck was changing. Unfortunately, on her heels was a collection of sociopaths determined to destroy his hometown for the benefit of a deepweb gameshow's cameras.

And everyone in the town is an unwilling contestant.

Forced to live out his fantasies for unseen Internet viewers, TJ must play along so he can kill the bad guys, fight monstrous scientific abominations, get the girl, and save what remains of his burning town. Failing that, at least himself, his mother, and his collection of anime figures.

Oh That's Why I'm Easy, I'm Easy Like...

I really liked how the writing was done. The dialogue was cheesy, yet fun, the dialect used was fitting for the story itself, and the movie references were all favorites of mine. This was written for people like me who love the zombie genre, but realize the overabundance of it means you need to find unique ways to tell the story. This was definitely unique, total cheese, and one really fun story.

I can’t say I liked TJ. He is your typical neck beard who annoys most everyone who isn’t a neck beard, but I got to say he was a lot of fun. Figure most neck beards would be quick fodder yet he does well, complete with his mall sword. I even liked his mother a bit since she was oblivious to everything going on and just wanted to keep her son the way he is. Sunday is the shining star and is a total bad ass. The odd pairing of her an TJ really made her a mysterious character. She definitely is the one you want by your side when zombies and biker gangs are out for you.

I liked how the story took off. It was a wild ride and I enjoyed about the first three quarters, then I felt like it took a turn. I understood the ending, however, wasn’t totally on board. This story is clearly an homage to plenty of other stories while also poking fun at some of the more serious zombie stories. The author is quick to tell you all the little notes from movies he is touching. I felt like it was one nod after another and that really worked well for this type of story.

John McLoughlin did a great job. I would have preferred a different voice for Sunday, but he did a perfect voice for TJ, and trying to sound like a neck beard can’t be easy. He put a lot of energy into the characters and it made the story that much more fun.

Great fun!

TJ gets caught up in a sick game show where they turn his town into a zombie-like wasteland where those in the dark web can watch people try to survive. Our hapless hero runs across Sunday a badass green hair heroine and the two team up to take on all the evil thrown their way. What ensues is a fun ride full of mayhem crazy scenes and a ton of good tongue in cheek moments. The lead characters are thoroughly enjoyable to accompany and for most of the book, it is a good time. The narration by John McLoughlin is solid throughout and he has a good amount of varied voices and good delivery. If the synopsis sounds fun to you I would definitely recommend checking it out, it is a fun little B-horror story with a solid core duo.

Read this 3 different ways

What did you love best about Green Sunday?

Uh zombies, though the news cameras and all reminded me of Ray Stevens and some of his videos

What other book might you compare Green Sunday to and why?

no idea, don't read a lot of zombie stuff

Which character – as performed by John McLoughlin – was your favorite?

didn't have a favorite, just nice the different ones seemed different enough from each other

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Tag...you don't want to be 'it'.

Any additional comments?

Read the book a bit then let my kindle for pc {with audio plugin plus narrator/speakonia} do it, though it's a not the same as a 'live' reading by a person. Had the tablet 'read' the book for me as well {have to use the audible cloud online otherwise, unless downloading but this is a chromebook laptop} and now a real audio {person} so still different, and the different voices he used was different enough to not be confusing, was really nice.

not bad

aside from some repetitive language (one more "black ichor" and I wass going to get angry) it was a fun and very different story.
I have not encountered many books where I did not like but was intrigued by almost every character. I wanted to know more. tbjs book was always going places i didnt see. would read more for sure. worth the count.

Beverly Hills Ninja meets Zombieland

That's not a very accurate description. I really tried to enjoy this book but it was a slog to get through.

The narrator sounds like he's speaking with a throat full of baby socks. Different parts of the book have different sound quality.

I think this writer has potential. It's fair well written, just not engaging. I would have enjoyed this book much better if I and read it myself without a narrator. Things that were set up did not have a very interesting payoff. I was rooting for this book to surprise me, but in the end I was left with an internal shrug.

Orange Sunshine?

Our protagonist TJ is a budding YouTuber with a vivid imagination. His next-door neighbors are creators of a deep web gameshow YouTube channel waiting for the second coming of a zombie apocalypse. When the unthinkable does happen, all hell breaks loose. TJ meets the stunning green-haired Sunday, and the truth of what is really going on is revealed. What’s really going on is quite a shocker! Then again, it could be more like the recollections of a bad trip on Orange Sunshine. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Different, but in a good way...

***As always, I have to state that I was given this book for free in exchange for a review.
I never let the fact that I was given this book for free effect or sway my opinion in my review. My reviews are always my own opinion and thoughts on the books that I review.***

I liked the basic idea behind this book and the characters were well written. There were some pretty outside the box concepts in play, and I felt compelled to continue reading the story. I really enjoyed the storyline, however, I have an issue with words and phrases being used repetitively. The term "rag doll" or "rag-dolled", for instance, was used over and over to describe a body's reaction to be shot or otherwise damaged. That is extremely distracting to me and affected my enjoyment of the book.

I did enjoy this book. I was hesitant at first cause I am usually a hardcore post-apocalyptic book lover. Usually dealing with zombies or biological warfare type of books.

Set in a semi end of days type setting you have TJ a well developed main character reminiscent of what a good portion of our youth nowadays is like. Kinda geeky, techy clumsy embarrassed around girls and all-around "weird". He is suddenly thrust into a life or death struggle. Dealing with gangs, and a "game". He fumbles through this new life and he meets this mysterious beauty who goes by Sunday. She has green hair and is totally unconventional when it comes to life. The story mainly follows these two as they try to survive in the new brutal world.

I did enjoy this book. The characters are well developed and you start to like them and I even liked some of the villains. I felt that the writing could be a little to "detailed" at times. Taking a long time to say what was going on. Sort of being over descriptive. This aside I do recommend this book.

Wobbly Different Spin on the Zombie Genre

Interesting characters, different plot spin and an abrupt ending.
The characters overall are fun and different. The plot is disjointed but comes together at the end. The ending is um well pretty final.
Lots of violence, blood and mayhem, but what else would you expect? Good narration overall.

Green Sunday

I think this story had promise for me, but I struggled to get past the characters. I like the idea of a near post-apocalyptic show releasing monsters at unsuspecting towns. I liked the situations and the fight for survival, but the characters were all so negative in both appearance and in their interactions. I know it seems weird, but I didn't feel like I had anyone to root for. I kinda wanted them all to die about 10 pages in. I guess it wan't for me, but the premise is sound in my opinion.
