Story
Family drama is bad enough without adding magic and human sacrifice. Ten years ago, Paxton Locke's mother killed his father in a mysterious ritual that - thankfully - went incomplete. Now, Paxton makes his living as a roving paranormal investigator, banishing spirits while Mother languishes in jail. When a terrified ghost warns him of a dangerous, newly freed entity, Paxton faces a fight far beyond simple exorcism. In a battle for his very soul, will he be able to endure - or simply fade away?

It was summer in the mountains when five small children vanished from their nursery school picnic. The heat was stifling that day, the tinkle of an ice-cream van in the air.... Three-and-a-half years later, in the dead of winter, the children are returned to their families...one by one. All except for Ivy - the granddaughter of Homicide Detective Kate Wakeland. The DFZ, the metropolis formerly known as Detroit, is the world’s most magical city with a population of nine million and zero public safety laws. That’s a lot of mages, cybernetically enhanced chrome heads, and mythical beasties who die, get into debt, and otherwise fail to pay their rent. When they can’t pay their bills, their stuff gets sold to the highest bidder. That’s when they call me. I’m a Cleaner: a freelance mage employed by the DFZ to sort through the mountains of magical junk people leave behind. It’s not a pretty job, or a safe one....

Mickey Gibson, mother and former detective, leads a hectic life similar to that of many moms: juggling the demands of her two small children with the tasks of her job working remotely for ProEye, a global investigation company that hunts down wealthy tax and credit cheats. When Mickey gets a call from a colleague named Arlene Robinson, she thinks nothing of Arlene’s unusual request for her to go inventory the vacant home of an arms dealer who cheated ProEye’s clients and fled. That is, until she arrives at the mansion to discover a dead body in a secret room—and that nothing is as it seems.

Once upon a time, in the magical land of San Francisco, there lived a not-so-ordinary girl named Laurel Pettigrew. She was supposed to be the Chosen One. The plan was simple: She would vanquish the great evil Tybus in an epic battle. But destiny had other ideas, and Laurel's performance in the whole heroics department was a colossal flop. Now, instead of being a legendary hero, Laurel's the resident pariah of the magic realm. “I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started listening to this book but the characters pulled me right in. JB takes over the business for his dad and everyone that works there has something "special" about them. I loved the characters, they are humorous and it has a great plot. If all of the books are like this one...the series is going to be a great read!

Entertaining
The story is an entertaining cozy mystery filled with characters. The narrator's mispronounciations were really distracting.

Paranormal Private Detective...Very Cool
This book has been hiding in my library for a little while now and I'm kind of mad I missed it. It was actually pretty good. I am not usually a fan of novellas. I tend to need more story. In my very non- professional opinion, I woulda taken all 4 of these books and make one big, bad a$$ novel. But what do I know, I could be statistically on the wrong side of that lol. Maybe most people would rather read shorter books. I know my husband would lol. But I digress.
I'm not going to lie, it took me a few chapters to really get into this book. There are a lot of characters in this series. And while most of them where great, and original. It took me a little while to get them all straight. I think if there was a little more book, I would have loved to learn more about the fairy and the Imp especially! But I do have the next 2 books so I am hopeful more will come out in book two. I cant wait to see what happens. The ending definitely makes you want to read/listen to the next book ASAP. Actually, now that I am thinking about it, There is a 2 pack you can get with books 1 & 2, I would definitely think about getting that one. Its totally worth it, and your probably going to wish you did if you only get book 1 lol. But if your looking for a fun, quick little book that is part of a series, this is it! I can't wait to start book #2.

Fun adventure with mystery and laughs
JB and his team were a riot. Close knit friends working to find and supernatural artifact. The odds were not in their favor. They were up against supernatural beings in the hunt for the same artifact.

Misadventures
This is a story of misadventures while on the job. For a short-length listen, I did not expect much on the world or character-building aspects. What was there I did enjoy and I think the narrator did a good job with this story.

paranormal investigations with semi demons?
Overall a pretty good story, the characters seemed well fleshed out but she left plenty of room for them to grow and background stories to be relieved. Looking forward to see what happens with J.B. and Jenna as the series continues. I thought the narrator did pretty well adapting to all the characters (there are a bunch), but at times her pace,cadence,rhythm...(whatever you call it) seemed to lag a bit, Worth a listen!

a "Cozy" Paranormal Mystery
When PI Jean Baptiste (JB for short) gets a call from a local coven leader, he and his multi talented team are ready to dive in to help find a missing magical chalice, but with witches, demons and all measure of magical beings involved, he might need a little help ... like from the very powerful grandfather he barely knows.
Kidnapping, murder and all sorts of mayhem abound in this one, and the investigative team are an interesting lot with personalities that provide plenty of variety and a lot to like.
This is a good, solid story with a lot of promise as a series.
The narrator takes a bit of getting used to but stay with it, either she improves or your ear adjusts, and by the end, I was even enjoying her narration style.
