Publisher's summary

When Nick Ashford lost his friend, Mason, he didn't realize he was going to lose his family as well, but that's exactly what happened. Alone and in a foreign country, Nick is working on rebuilding his life one patient at a time, that is, until a striking volunteer makes her presence known.

Can Nick finish his year in Africa without risking his heart being broken again, or is he willing to start a new chapter in his life before his return to Beaumont?

LOVED NICK!

Any additional comments?

I JUST FINISHED FOREVER MY GIRL AND FINISHED MY REVIEW- AND WAS JUST SAYING THAT I FELT SOOOO BAD FOR NICK. THAT I TRULY LIKED HIM. SO WHEN I SAW THIS NOVELLA WAS ABOUT HIM- I WAS EXCITED BECAUSE SERIOUSLY WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO HIM?

THIS NOVELLA IS NICK'S STORY- NICK LEAVES BEAUMONT AND GOES TO AFRICA FOR A YEAR AND WHILE HE WAS THERE HE MEETS AUDREY. THE BOOK TAKES YOU BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN PRESENT AND PAST OF HIS TIME WITH JOSIE AND HIS NEW TIME WITH AUDREY.

WHEN NICK COMES BACKS HOME FROM AFRICA WITH A WIFE ON HIS ARM- HE DESPERATELY WANTED TO CONTINUE HIS FATHER BOND WITH NOAH.

THIS SHORT NOVELLA WAS WONDERFUL- YOU GOT EXPERIENCE WHAT HAPPENED WITH NICK ASHFORD, HOW HE FELT. THERE WAS A LOT OF INFO PACKED IN THIS LITTLE NOVELLA AND WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE OUTCOME.

THIS AUDIOBOOK HAD A DIFFERENT NARRATOR THAN FOREVER MY GIRL, WHICH I LOVE CONSIDERING MOST SEQUELS HAVE THE SAME NARRATOR FOR ALL CHARACTERS. NARRATED BY JEFFREY KAFER AND THE AUDIO IS JUST AS SHORT AT ABOUT 1 HOUR 51 MINUTES.

Redemption!

After losing Josie and Noah to Liam's return, Nick left Beaumont and escaped to Doctors Without Borders in Africa. He regrets leaving, but he had no other choice, because he couldn't stand between Noah and his father. He enjoys being a doctor, but in Africa he has found himself as a man. He notices a beautiful South African woman, Aubrey, who is one of his new co-workers. He'd like to get to know her and she's given him some indication that she's interested, so he asks her to dinner. Things go beautifully until Aubrey tells him she wants to go to college. With that age difference, he feels guilty that she won't want to go back to the United States with him when his time in Africa is over. It's a really nice story of Nick coming to terms with his past and opening up to his hopes for the future.

Not what I was expecting

I thought this was a classic contemporary romance but what I got was more a story of a shared family. Don't get me wrong, that's still a good story to tell but I'm not sure the author did it right or if this was the right vehicle? Not sure where it fails for me but from the get-go the story is told from the males' POV and how unhappy he is in his first relationship but loves her kid and is more of a father to the kid then his own Rockstar father but things fizzle with the mom and he up and takes off to Africa, only to bring back a bride and tries to mend fences with his first flame to then have a relationship with the kid he left behind (that isn't his biologically).
I get it, I really do and it's a nice story but I just didn't like the guy at all and the women are not that endearing either. We only really meet the kid that is the whole point of the story at the end and it's kinda brief. I guess it's short enough for whatever it was trying to get across but as a reader/listener I just never got the "buy-in"

Nick!

My 'Everything by Heidi McLaughlin is a short novella of Nick. I loved how he realized that he hadn't have run away to Africa, yet found love and peace helping others. His relationship with Noah was great, and had realistic elements. Jeffrey Kafer was great performing the book. He added the right emotions to the story. I really enjoyed this short listen and was grateful to have received a review copy.

Cute but...

A little too short. It should have gone into the new relationship a bit more. Maybe ignored the South African accent as he sort of butchered that one.. and maybe spent a little more time developing their relationship as to the reader it was like Ho new woman, married, the end... I mean 3 months is a long time and we could have got a few hours out of that so that the reader in fully invested in their relationship. This should have been at least 4 hours long. He was such a major role in the first book and his abrupt departure from that story left lingering question and this book is just so short it is actually insulting to his character. Like a footnote... oh by the way here is what happened to Nick.. the end
For what the story was I give it all five stars but just know that this story had so much more potential

story was lacking

There just was not enough here to justify the addition of a new story. I felt this could have been intermingled with the other story ir as an after thought.

Narration was cool, smooth, and gave vibes if the character.

Nice it was finished

I like the fact the author concluded Nik's story. And, how people should interact with children involved .
