Publisher's summary

Once best friends, now strangers: Second chances don't come along often. Indulge in heat, ink, and romance in the third book of the New York Times best-selling Montgomery Ink Series.

Meghan Montgomery-Warren thought she knew what love was when she'd married young and had two children. After years of being emotionally beaten down, her husband has finally left her and now she's forced to find her way once again. Somehow she needs to find the person she used to be and figure that the strength she'd thought she'd lost was always there.

Luc Dodd left Denver and his best friend Meghan when he was forced to watch her walk down the aisle with another man. He might have only been her best friend, but he held his true emotions close to the vest. Now he's back in town and in Meghan's life. Only he needs to decide if that's enough for him...and her.

Their journey from friends to lovers is a slow burn of seduction and pain. When Meghan's past comes back to haunt them both, the two of them will have to stand closer together or be torn apart by their own misgivings forever.

A great love story!

This series grows on me with each book I read- or hear! Carrie Ann Ryan's Harder Than Words, book 3 in her Montgomery Ink series, once again shows off Ms. Ryan's excellent storyteller skills. Her main characters in this book, Megan Montgomery Warren and Lincoln Dodd , spring to life with the magic of Carrie Ann 's words. Megan and the whole Montgomery family or so relatable, I felt I was there at Sunday dinner with the whole gang! I found myself wishing I could return to Denver and find the Montgomery's homes! And without images I could SEE the ink tattooed on the characters!
As good as the story is, the performance was as good. At first I had trouble with a male reader...my bias, I am sorry! But Gregory Salinas deep sensuous voice, smooth and warm as honey at times, growly breathless at others, sucks you into the story as he continues to read. And given how steamy the sex is in this book, Gregory's voice is perfect, sexy, and yummy! I may have to change my opinion about male readers! Mr. Salinas knows how to use the speed and tempo of his voice to convey suspense. There is a lot of action and intrigue in this addition of Montgomery Ink.
Harder Than Words is a delightful listening offering from Audible! One I highly reccomend to fellow romance junkies like myself. It should be noted this offering is for mature audiences only. Carrie Ann Ryan sure knows how to write a good love scene!

Excellent action packed and sensually sexy story

I asked to receive this free review Audible book and wrote this unbiased review. This is such an amazing second chance story. As kids Luc and Meghan were the very best of friends, but he didn't know how to tell her that he was in love with her. When she married Richard, he had to leave town. I love the the character development that evolves ten years later. She is a much stronger divorced woman who is raising two children on her own. Now he is ready to care for them and protect them no matter what. He is such a loving man. Will she be able to open her damaged heart to Luc? Both have family and friends that are there to support them. Let me just add that her ex is the devil in disguise. The narrator does an outstanding job of making us feel the emotions that the characters are experiencing. I enjoyed listening to him. I highly recommend this Audible book.

Narration Didn't Work for Me

I listened to the audio book, and I am wondering if I would have like it better if I had read it. The narration didn't do much for me. It sounded like the narrator was reading a book out loud without much emotion. The voices would change, but I didn't get a sense of feeling at any point in the book. Even after the big scene toward the end. I take that back. The only time I did pick up the emotion was during the scenes of hostility from Luc's sister and Meghan's ex husband.

The storyline was not bad, but there was way too much of the internal dialogue going on. I almost stopped listening, but felt I needed to see this through to the end.

Between the narration and internal dialogue, I have to decide if I'm going to read or listen to Griffin's book, or Alex's book. I may give the audio version one more chance.

I was glad Meghan was able to stand up to her craptastic ex, but would have really enjoyed this book if they had more toe to toe encounters where she came out on top. It would have also been nice if that final big scene hadn't felt so rushed and I could have learned about the final consequences.

The alpha male scenes (especially the ones leading up to the sexual encounters) sounded kind of wussy. I didn't think of Luc like that when reading the book description, or at the very beginning of the book. I tried to separate the dialogue from the narration, but I couldn't.

I hate to judge the book by the narration, but since I listened to it, that is an integral part of the review. this was approx. an 8 hour listen that took me almost a week to finish. I had to stop, take a break, and listen to/read other books, and go back to this one. Harder than Words would be 2.5 stars for me.

Really Engrossing Story

Firstly I have to say that I have not read or listened to the previous two books in this series, but that in no way spoiled my enjoyment of this book.

The writing style of the author is really easy and she gives you enough background information without giving too much that you can jump right in. The story is about Luc and Meghan two people who were best friend all through their childhood. Luc's feelings had grown much deeper than friendship but before he could make his feelings know to Meghan she had fallen in love with Richard. The book starts on Meghan and Richard's wedding day when Luc decides that he can no longer stay and live in close proximity to Meghan when she just thinks of him as her best friend and is now a married woman.

Fast forward ten years and Meghan is divorced and no longer the girl/woman Luc knew, she's a single mum to two wonderful children and working to support herself and them. Luc has returned to Denver, in fact, he's been home a year, and is working for Meghan's family firm (he is also a good friend to her brothers) he and Meghan are distant with each other but Luc still has feelings and wants to try again. Will she let him, or is she too damaged by her bad marriage?

This book is peopled by lots of interesting characters Meghan comes from a large family and all of them are mentioned with some of them playing minor parts in the story. The way the author has woven this tale I was engrossed and could not bear to stop listening to it. Gregory Salinas reads this story with such warmth and feeling bringing just the right amount of anger, passion, and love to his delivery that I wanted to go on listening forever.

This is not just a Second Chance love story there is so much more going on and so much passion to the story that when to story ended I felt rather flat. I now will have to listen to more of this wonderful series. I have tried not to give any Spoilers what I have said all happens at the very beginning of the story. But what I will say is I really loved this one.

I was gifted a copy of this book by the author, but am under no obligation to write a review - I just felt after such a wonderful experience that I had to! This review is written voluntarily and is only my personal opinion.

Liked the story but not the narrator

I want to READ the rest of this series. I don't like the narrator's voice and the "soap opera" way in which he speaks. Would love to listen to the rest of the series if it had a different narrator, I will check the rest to see who the narrator is.
