Publisher's summary

Alexandra James gave up her spring break for an offer she couldn't refuse: a week-long job that would earn her enough money to buy her way out of a broken heart. But if she thought her new boss would let her off easy because he's her father's best friend, she couldn't have been more wrong.

Dean Brittany demands perfection from his employees, but none more so than his new temp, since correcting her mistakes seems to fuel his unexpected attraction to her. Unfortunately for him, 18-year-old Alexandra is strictly off limits.

Strictly Off Limits is a forbidden romance novella originally published in the Forbidden Fruit Anthology, Volume 1 (no longer available). It's a quick listen.

I like. Better than I thought!

If you could sum up Strictly Off Limits in three words, what would they be?

Oh so good! :-)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Strictly Off Limits?

When Alex realized that Dean was who she wanted and she went to get her man!

Have you listened to any of Melissa Barr’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my second book I've read that Melissa Barr has performed. She gets better and better. Very much enjoyed her voices and the emotions she portrayed.

Any additional comments?

Give this book a listen. Quick, easy and enjoyable. And steamy!

Not really sure

I’m not sure if I love it or hate it but I guess it was okay for me. How things started and I don’t really feel the chemistry between these two. The narrator was great but the story was missing something, maybe because it’s a short story but I don’t know.

What a fantastic little short

Jessica Hawkins is a very talented writer, there is no questioning that but I didn't know how much could fit into such a short little novella. Well let me tell you, ALOT!

Not only was it super hot🔥🔥🔥, Jessica also got a very fun and flirty, taboo story. Definitely a summer must read.

I just took a bite of the forbidden fruit

Would you consider the audio edition of Strictly Off Limits to be better than the print version?

I have read the book and heard the Audio and absolutely would recommend the Audio book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mr. Brittany was of course! Why? We all want to read about or watch something that is known to us as taboo or forbidden and hearing how Mr. Brittany struggle with the thought of the unthinkable was absolutely right up my alley.

Have you listened to any of Melissa Barr’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I have not

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me want more Thomas was a short read and Jessica Hawkins being one of my favorite authors.... She has a knack for writing about forbidden love I'd read and or listen to just about any story she has written.

kind of short

this was a pretty good book, it just seemed like the plot was cut short.

Warning

Once you start to read her books she will become your favorite author. I very highly recommend all her books but my number one book of ALL time ( and I read a lot) is Night Fever.

I originally did not think that I would care for such a younger woman and older man storyline but I should have known better with Ms. Hawkins as the author. Excellent short story. You will not regret purchasing.

A quick, steamy read

Would you consider the audio edition of Strictly Off Limits to be better than the print version?

I prefer the print version, as I am better able to form the characters' voices and inflections in my mind.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Strictly Off Limits?

Dean spanking Alexandra over the omission of a comma. It was reminiscent of the movie "Secretary."

What about Melissa Barr’s performance did you like?

I really enjoyed that she didn't just read each character straight and that I was able to tell when she was reading as a particular character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"By trying to win back a boy, she found a man."

Candy For the Ears-No More, No Less-Enjoy! ♥

Alexandra is suffering from a broken heart, her boyfriend has just broken up with her and going to Mexico for spring break. As the "dumped" part of the couple Alexandra ops not to go. She has a plan to get her boyfriend back and it includes a $900 dress! (2016)

Fortunately, Alexandra's dad knows that HIS best friend, Dean, needs a temp for a week or so during spring break. It is the perfect opportunity for her to earn enough to cover the dress. The dress her ex will see her in and beg for her to take him back.

Alexandra is not used to Dean in his business sense. So it is a complete surprise to her that the man she is working for demands formality, even though he has known her for her entire life.

Things move quickly from the option of being a temp or a little bit more to Dean. What will Alexandra decide? Okay, we all know what she's going to do!

This is a short, light read, perfect for an afternoon on the beach or on a February day in New England. There is no deep plot to keep track of. I liken this to a box of chocolates. You know that they are so good, and you should only have just one, but before you know it, half of the box is gone! Strictly Off Limits is candy for the ears. Nothing heavy, but also enjoyable.

The narration is good. I was impressed with her ability to portray both male and female characters in a believable way. There are very few narrators that can tell the story without being distracting. Melissa Barr is one of them

If this is your first experience with Jessica Hawkins, I encourage you to listen to her
The Cityscape Series. It is a masterful trilogy that I could not wait for each book to come out!

Notes: 18+ For language and mature themes and talk of BDSM.

Stars: I'm rating this in the "Candy for the Ears" category… Four stars across all categories.
If you are looking for something deep and dramatic, you may disagree with my review.

Short and Steamy Ride!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is my first Jessica Hawkins book but definitely not my last. I loved the story and the forbidden passion between the two main characters. This is a short, hot steamy ride and I loved every bit of it!
